When choosing the right chopsticks you have to ask yourself…HOW BADLY DO I WANT TO EAT?

I use 10-inch bamboo chopsticks. My sticks are like elegant extensions to my short stubby fingers.

Over the years I have found that chopsticks have many many uses…

CHOPSTICKS CAN BE USED FOR
► A coffee stirrer
► A pointer during a presentation
► A bathroom drain cleaner
► Making little holes in plant soil for the plant food spikes
► Holding your hair in place on the back of your head
► Grabbing things that fall behind the stove and fridge
► A back scratcher (the 14 inch stick works great)
► Discipline (specifically hands and feet bottoms)

THE JOURNEY TO FIND MY FAVORITE CHOPSTICK
I was eating dim sum in Portland, Oregon with my mom a few years ago. They had the raddest chopsticks. They were 14-inch long plastic vibrant green beauties. As I started to use them I noticed they were real slippery and my food kept sliding out of my sticks. Why? They were plastic. Such a bummer!! Moving on I tried the cheapy wood ones that have the cutesy Asian design at the very top that you can pick up in almost any Asian market or gas station for that matter. Not only did the Asian design come off the top of the stick when I washed them but the wood gave me splinters. Next up…I went for the modern sleek stainless steel chopsticks. These were absolutely beautiful and heavy duty and went perfectly with my modern décor. However, they were so fricken heavy I couldn’t even pick up a piece of bbq pork.

At last my grandpa came back from a trip to Vietnam and brought me some bamboo chopsticks. My all time favorite chopsticks (at the moment) are the 10-inch beauties made out of bamboo.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN CHOOSING THE RIGHT CHOPSTICK
Chopsticks can be classified into five groups; wood, metal, bone, stone and compound chopsticks. Actually let me add just one more… training chopsticks for kids. These are generally 5-6 inches long with a connector at the end and some silly cartoon character design.

The best way to find the right chopstick is by trial and error. I used to think I had to compromise beautiful chopsticks for chopsticks I could actually eat with. The bamboo sticks come in so many different shades of brown and definitely go with any decor.
