5 yummy reasons to LOVE Nashville, TN

Milton’s TOP 5 PICKS for Nashville, TN.

PM
2017 Belmont Boulevard

Asian Inspired Cuisine from Top Chef Alum, Arnold Myint, Sushi Bistro & Bar.
I myself am not a fan of sushi (which I am told is great here) but love Asian food. I am tempted to try the Nashville roll – ham, bacon, cream cheese and asparagus. Adding to this weeks do to list! Favorites here are the salt tossed edamame, peanut sauce fondue, madras curry tofu & potato lettuce wrap, and peanut sauce chicken skewers. It is located close to Vandy and Belmont, usually has a young, cool college crowd. The food is great. Though its easy and relaxed the atmosphere is energized.

Ru San’s
505 12th Avenue South
615.252.8787
Japanese Restaurant in The Gulch
Walking into Ru San’s is like walking into a 1980’s music video. Lots of loud dance music which I like. Its also casual and relaxed. As casual and relaxed as an 80’s music video can be, remember Duran Duran? Good food, known for its sushi. I love the mozzarella sesame tofu. It is in a great location. Only downside is the uneven service – communication between front of house and back of house historically hasn’t been great. Worth trying.

Suzy Wong’s House Of Yum
1515 Church Street
615.329.2913
Suzy is Chef Arnold Myint’s drag alter ego. Super cool environment – I run into everyone from my nieces’ classmates’ parents to local celebs. Great bar. Great food. Great service. I LOVE the Wonton Nachos. Other favorites are the Katsu Chicken Strips and the Suzy Caesar (great twist on the Caesar Salad). The yum bowls have inspired a legion of fans. I love the cocktails here too! They provide the late night menu for Tribe the bar next door.

Virago
1126 McGavock Street
615.254.1902
Upscale fusion restaurant. Always on a best of and/or hotspot list, its a place to see and be seen. Service has always been good though a manager or bouncer tried to turn me away a few years ago because I was wearing sandals. I’m sure that wasn’t the real reason. Another manager knew that I was there to met a few well connected patrons and the sitch was quickly corrected. Great reputation for sushi, I love their goat cheese salad, chicken meatballs and stir fry. I still wear sandals when I go. Virago also houses a wonderful member’s only club, Citizen.

Thai Phooket
207 Woodland Street
615.248.7933
Two words. Drunken Noodles. It’s a must. Great with an iced coffee. Cool and casual atmosphere. There’s no pretense here, you are in a trailer afterall. You are likely to run into one of Nashville’s good looking male models like Josh Parant or Carson Nicely. Unfortunately they are not on the menu.
